All sleeping bags require a sleeping pad. This is not unique to Big Agnes sleeping bags. The underside fill in sleeping bags does not insulate, so underside insulation is entirely dependent on a sleeping pad. What is unique about Big Agnes bags is not that they require a sleeping pad but that they have none of that wasted underside fill and have an underside sleeve to accommodate the sleeping pad.
